Exhibition
Ahead of major building works, Le Grand Café has invited Lou Masduraud to imagine a site-specific exhibition where everything becomes body, flux and interaction through her expanded sculptural practice.
Ta crème immunitaire [Your immune cream] has the building perform some sort of gigantic striptease, an analytic and sensual disrobing of the architecture that produces a particular kind of disorientation: a play on the nature of spaces – public or private – overturning the personal and the shared, the visible and the subterranean, skin and entrails, exalting that which makes our experience of our surroundings physical and social.
In Lou Masduraud’s works scientific research into the biochemical properties of materials (resistance, stress, corrosion) intersects with demonstrations of artisanal skill; phantasmagorical visions appear, as if reaching out for alternative scenarios to our normative realities.
