Paul Heintz develops his work around film and installation, in a space between documentary and fiction where realism is often called into question by the characters themselves. He weaves stories around social issues in a very open narrative, without offering an interpretation. In his detached and poetic approach to his reflections, relationships with authority and submission to power are recurring subjects.
The three series of works presented at Le Grand Café replay these themes, touching on questions of labour, globalisation, and new media. From Jeddah to Shenzhen by way of the United States, the exhibition Night Shift films the dark side of our days in times of ultramodern solitude. From film to film, from story to story, during the night shift the subtle outlines of dissident paths appear.
